RWTH: RWTH Professor Holger Schüttrumpf leads joint project on the flood event

The Federal Ministry for Education and Researchfinances the joint project “HoWas2021 – Governance and communication in the event of a crisis of the flood event in July 2021” with around 1.5 million euros over the next 18 months. From now on, academics from universities are working here together with actors from organizations on improving risk prediction, crisis communication and disaster management in extreme weather conditions. Professor Holger Schüttrumpf from the Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management at RWTH Aachen University has taken on the project management. In addition to RWTH, the Free University of Berlin, the University of Siegen, the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, the University of Potsdam, the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK), the Technical Relief Organization (THW), the German Weather Service.
