RWTH: The future with artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence is no longer science fiction, but is present in many places in our everyday life. We communicate with voice recognition, put our car in the smallest of gaps with a parking assistant and have the living room cleaned by a vacuum cleaner robot. All of these systems are based on AI, automated intelligent behavior and machine learning. And development has only just begun. As part of the awarding of the Aachen Engineering Prize to Professor Sebastian Thrun, who is being recognized for his visionary work and impulses in the field of AI, RWTHextern – The Citizens’ Forum is organizing the theme week “Our future with artificial Intelligence”. The series gives insights into ongoing research, shows perspectives and invites you to a critical dialogue. Attending all events is free of charge, but registration is required.

Through self-driving cars or in medical care? And where are the limits? Participants from science and politics will discuss these topics, moderated by WDR journalist Jens Tervooren. Sitting on the podium: Professor Holger H. Hoos (Universiteit Leiden NL, Machine Learning), Member of the Bundestag Dr. Anna Christmann (Committee for Education, Research and Technology, Chairwoman of the Study Commission “Artificial Intelligence”), Professor Bastian Leibe (Chair for Computer Vision at RWTH, Assistance Systems and Robots for Everyday Life) and Professor Markus Strohmaier (Chair for Methodology and Theory of Computer-Based Humanities and Social Sciences RWTH).
