RWTH: Three RWTH Students Presented with Schüßler Award

Award winners receive a 5,000 euro scholarship for study abroad.


The Schüßler Award has now been presented for the twenty-seventh time at RWTH Aachen University. This year Maja Happel, Vianne Zoe Pöss, and Leif Steinhagen received the award. The prize recipients were selected based on their outstanding academic performance and their civic engagement. The award promotes budding civil and industrial engineering students with a 5,000 Euro scholarship for study abroad.

Maja Happel, whose specialization is constructive structural engineering, is about to embark on a study abroad project in Trondheim, Norway. Vianne Zoe Pöss, an industrial engineer with specialization in civil engineering, will spend a study abroad period in Turin, Italy. Leif Steinhagen, who specializes in constructive engineerig, will go to Barcelona.

The prizes were awarded by Christina Zimmermann, managing partner at Schüßler-Plan GmbH; Professor Stefanie Reese, dean of the RWTH Faculty of Civlil Engineering; and Professor Joseph Hegger, vice-dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Sascha Steuer, managing director at the German Association of Consulting Engineers, gave the keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in construction projects.
