Sakuraa India Foundation to set up 9 more Japan Desks to offer Japanese language training & technical skill development
Bengaluru: Sakuraa India Foundation (SIF), the Bengaluru-based registered charitable trust which primarily focuses on Japanese language training and skill development, is planning to set up nine more Japan Desks in Karnataka. These Japan Desks besides imparting Japanese language training especially to technical students will also foster Industry-Academy collaboration between institutes and Japanese corporate houses.
While five new Japan Desks will be set up in Bengaluru – one each in Whitefield, HSR Layout, Rajajinagar, Peenya Industrial Area & Sahakara Nagar; the other four new Japan Desks will be set up – one each in Mysuru, Belagavi, Dharwad & Tumkur. Three Japan Desks – Whitefield, HSR Layout and Rajajinagar will become operational by mid-September, the other two planned in Bengaluru will become functional by end of December 2017. The other four Desks in Karnataka will become operational before March 2018.
Sharing the need for Japan Desks, Sreedhara B G, Founder & Managing Trustee of Sakuraa India Foundation (SIF), pointed out, “There is enormous scope for young Indian technical and non-technical students to find lucrative career not only in Japan but also with Japanese companies in India. However, the missing link is lack of Japanese language training and if this gap is bridged, India could emerge as a big talent pool for Japanese companies both in Japan and India.”
Further, he pointed out, “Over the years Indian engineers have started becoming the backbone of Japan’s IT industry and many more sectors including Banking & Financial Services, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Power are also showing appetite to hire Indian engineers. Importantly large number of engineering jobs in Japan are still opening up as major companies there are not willing to offshore.”
Against this backdrop, SIF is keen to equip Indian engineering students with not only Japanese language skills but also impart technology skill as demanded by the Japanese industry. SIF’s Japan Desk is keen to engage engineering student’s right from the first semester and harness their skills to ensure that their employability quotient increase. Further, he added, SIF has been nurtured by bilingual teaching staff both from India and Japan, who are been engaged in conducting classes both for spoken Japanese, JLPT N5 to N3 levels.
