‘Save Water, Safe Water’ Campaign and Environment Day Observed under G20 Events

 

Aligarh : The Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with a community service project “Save Water Safe Water” organised an awareness campaign to promote safe water habits among people. The campaign was led by an AMU student, Faiza Rais in the form of t-shirt/dupatta painting and slogan writing competition.

In all, twenty-five students participated in the t-shirt/dupatta painting and forty-seven students participated in the slogan writing competition.

On the theme of the competition “Save Water Safe Water”, various concepts and practical measures were conceived by the students and colourfully depicted by them. The Competition was coordinated by Dr. Samreen Hasan Khan, Students’ Counsellor.

Meanwhile, Abdullah School, AMU organized several activities under the banner of G20 to mark the World Environment Day.

Awareness speeches, plantation drive, essay writing, poster and collage-making activities were held with an aim to spread the message of a pollution free environment.

In the morning assembly awareness speeches were delivered by Ramsha Khan of class V, Ayesha Owais of class V and Tayyaba of class III in Hindi, English and Urdu respectively, highlighting the harmful effects of plastic and measures to avoid their use.

Plantation drive was also held on the occasion.

Prof. Shaista Afroz, Deputy Director, Directorate of School Education, AMU graced the occasion and planted saplings along with the children of school in Abdullah School premises.

Students participated in the essay writing, poster making and collage making activities in large numbers.

School Superintendent, Mrs. Umra Zaheer exhorted the students to maintain good habits and work for environment sustainability.
