Seminar on Doping and Technical Conduct in Modern Athletics held

Aligarh : The University Games Committee, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association organised a state seminar on “doping and technical conduct in modern athletics”, at the Assembly Hall of AMU Boys Polytechnic, wherein experts discussed various dimensions of doping and why the use of substance is harmful for the career of sportspersons.

Mr. Ashutosh Bhalla, President, UP Athletics Association said that our aim is to raise awareness about doping among the athletes of the state, and efforts will be made to conduct such seminars in all the districts. He expressed gratitude to all the functionaries of the University for successfully hosting an important event of the Association.

The chief guest Prof Amjad Ali Rizvi, Secretary, AMU Games Committee, Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Principal, JN Medical College, AMU, and Prof Farha Azmi, Principal, College of Nursing, AMU deliberated upon the topic and highlighted its importance, appreciating the efforts of the UP Athletics Association in this regard.

Dope control officer from Delhi, Dr. Bhupendra Kumar explained the meaning of substance consumption to the players and the harm caused by it.

Dr. Rajan Bhatia, Level 1 Official of Athletics Federation of India highlighted the importance of technical nuances of modern athletics.

Mr. P.K. Srivastava, CEO of UP Athletics Association extended special thanks to Mr. Mohammad Imran IPS, Registrar, AMU, Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, OSD to the Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Zameerullah Khan, President, Athletics Club, AMU, for successfully organizing the seminar.

Mr. Manish Mohan Govil IRS, Chairman, UP Athletics Association said that for the first time a state seminar was held at Aligarh Muslim University, for which the efforts of the teachers, students and the Vice President of UP Athletics Association Mr. Shamshad Nisar are praiseworthy.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Devesh Dubey, Secretary of the Association.

A large number of players from Aligarh, students from the Department of Physical Education, AMU, and representatives of 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh participated in the seminar.

The coach Mr. Shahab, Mr. Musharaf Kamran, Mr. Zishan Nawab, Mr. Raees, Mr. Adnan, Mr. Asim, Mr. Imran, Miss Nida Usmani, Miss Sana, and Mr. Danish Rao helped in making the seminar a success.
