Siberian Federal University: Conference on environmental monitoring at SibFU
On 22 September 2021, the International Satellite Conference titled Environmental Monitoring. Methods and Approaches was launched at Siberian Federal University. The conference will consider environmental testing methods for assessing environmental risks.
Particular attention is focused on the regional specifics: assessing the toxicity of the atmosphere of Krasnoyarsk using long-term monitoring of the state of suburban pine forests and the potential of representatives of aquatic biota for monitoring radiation pollution of the Yenisey River.
Chair of the satellite conference is Valentina Kratasyuk, Doctor of Science in Biology, professor, head of the Department of Biophysics, School of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology, SibFU.
«First of all, I would like to note that the conference is supported by SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry), which is very important. This international society works on all continents, is engaged in scientific and applied research, and gives us tremendous opportunities. It is also crucial that quite recently a world-class environmental scientific and educational center was opened on the basis of Siberian Federal University, and the discussions at the conference are entirely in the context of the problems of this center», said the professor.
The organizer of the conference is the Department of Biophysics, SibFU’s School of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology.
«The biology is traditionally one of the key priorities at the university. Many people are sure to know that a good education is impossible without science. The classic science education link, which SibFU develops, gives a good result. Today, according to the data of the world rating agencies, we occupy a serious position in this area», underlined Ruslan Baryshev, vice-rector for research.
