SIT’s proud Alumna, Sub Lieutenant Riti Singh’s dreams take the flight
New Delhi: Symbiosis Institute of Technology is proud to announce that their alumna, Ms. Riti Singh, has been selected as the Indian Navy’s first women combat aviators to be deployed on warships. Ms. Riti is an alumnus of the 2013-17 Computer Science Engineering batch at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), and has always been amongst one of the brightest minds during her tenure. Symbiosis Institute of Technology is the only Engineering institute under the umbrella of Symbiosis International( Deemed) University and is also considered one of the best private engineering colleges in India.
Commenting on this, Dr. Ketan Kotecha, Director and Dean, SIT said, “It is indeed a moment of pride and happiness to see SIT students flying high in various domains and contributing to society at large. SIT has always given full support to not only students for starting their own ventures but also ensured that each student uses their potential to the fullest. Each year we feel so proud to see our students achieve newer zeniths of success and make our institution proud. We believe that each student with the right opportunity and guidance can achieve their dreams within no time.”
The faculty members of SIT remember Riti as a very bright student who always showcased great determination and hard work in academics as well as extracurricular activities. Commenting on her achievement they said, “Her passion and will power has helped her to transform into a well-accomplished individual. After completing the engineering graduate studies in 2017 from SIT, Riti went ahead to follow her family legacy of joining the Indian Forces. Today, she is the first women combatant who will operate as specialists on board Navy helicopters which operate from the deck of warships and we and the entire SIU fraternity is extremely proud of her remarkable achievement of serving the nation.”
Riti is one of the best examples of gender equality in the Indian forces and she is training to operate a host of sensors onboard navy multi-role helicopters, including sonar consoles and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) payloads. This is like a dream come true for her and for her family.
It is so aptly said that Engineers are the ones who believe in achieving rather than just dreaming about their passions. SIT is lucky to have students like Sub Lieutenant Riti who is the perfect example of someone who has immense passion and commitments towards her goals. Her name will go down in not only history but also will be etched in our hearts forever. SIT wishes all the best to her and the nation!
