SKKU: SKKU Mechanical Engineering Team SAVE wins the 2022 University Autonomous Driving Contest

Mechanical Engineering Team SAVE (Supervisor: Professor. Sung Ho Hwang/ Teammates: Taeyun Kim, Kyeongsu Kim, Kyungho Kim, Hunki Lee, Seoku Gwak, Seyoung Jeong, Hyobin Kim, Younggeun Park, Eunji Song, Jihyeok Ahn) achieved the glorious championship of 2022 University Autonomous Driving Contest, held in Daegu on October 26th. This contest was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supervised by the Korea Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute, which granted the Prime Minister Award and cash of KRW 50 million to the winning team.



The universities that passed the preliminary stage participated in the main contest which were: 2nd Soongsil University, 3rd POSTECH, 4th Chungbuk National University, and 5th UNIST.



Each team performed their assigned autonomous driving level 4 mission which implemented robot-taxi functions operating in urban areas and high-speed driving up to 100km/h in augmented reality using their own autonomous vehicle. Then, the scores for each vehicle were evaluated to determine the final ranking.
