SKM Best Eggs joins hands with Rotary International to spread awareness on protein consumption among thousands of young minds

Bangalore: A powerhouse of benefits, Egg is consumed world-wide across age groups as a source of essential protein. Keeping this in mind, on World Egg Day SKM Best Eggs in association with Rotary International (Chennai District 3232) embarked on a health mission to create awareness about the importance of consuming egg to support healthy brain development among school children in the city. As part of this initiative, SKM Best Eggs and Rotary International today distributed 1 Lakh two thousand eggs to around 17,000 underprivileged students from in and around schools of Chennai.

The inaugural function happened at Jai Gopal Garodiya School , Virugambakkam in the august presence of Mr. Sudalai Kannan, IAS , State Project Director , SSA and MP – South Chennai , Dr. J. Jayavardhan and MLA of Virugambakkam Thiru Virugai V.N. Ravi. Senior members of Rotary International also were a part of the event namely Rotarian Babu Peram – Rotary District Governor 3232 and Rotarian Sanjay Goel , President – Rotary Club of Chennai Capital.

“Protein plays a very vital role in every stage of a child’s development and sadly, 9 out of 10 Indians are protein deficient. Whilst protein is available from a plethora of sources, egg for a long time now has remained as a reliable and affordable source” said Mr. Shree Shivakumar, Managing Director – SKM Best Eggs .Adding to this, he said “It is important to increase the protein intake at a very early stage, which is currently a growing gap in India. Identifying this need, we are happy to join hands with Rotary International (Chennai District 3232), to bring about the awareness at a grass root level. We are immensely delighted to be helping thousands of children reach their protein intake and also educating them about the importance of high protein diet.”
