SKUAST-Jammu Celebrates World Water Day

Jammu: Water Management Research Centre (AICRP-IWM) of SKUAST-Jammu, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. J.P. Sharma, celebrated World Water Day.

The Centre organized series of activities simultaneously viz One Day SAMETI Training for Officials of Agriculture and Command Area Department; Kissan Ghoshti for farmers and Painting and Debate Competition for students. About 20 officers attended SAMETI training on Water Valuation in Agriculture, 65 farmers from different villages participated in Kissan Ghoshti whereas 25 students participated in debate and painting competition.

Dr. J.P. Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu, in his address, advocated the farmers to save water through different techniques and distributed prize among the winners of painting and debate competition.

Dr. A.K. Sharma, Chief Scientist and Dr. Abhijit Samanta, Prof. (Soils) addressed the farmers whereas the other scientists namely Dr. Anuradha Saha and Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta delivered their expert lectures. Dr. Vijay Bharti, Sr. Scientist of the Centre besides organizing and coordinating all the activities also organized a visit to the Multiple Water Use Model.
