“Songs of Summer” in the reading room of the Scientific Library of PetrSU

A significant event took place in the reading room of the Scientific Library of PetrSU – a concert of Someraj kantoj (“Songs of the Summer”) of the ensemble of ethnic music and improvisation “Jeans-kantele” under the direction of the Honored Artist of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Yakovlevich Stangrit.
The program included ancient Karelian songs and runes, Russian folk songs, African folk songs, as well as the author’s compositions by Sergei Yakovlevich. A variety of musical instruments were involved: from classical grand pianos, guitar, violin and cello to ethnic, primarily kantele.

Of course, it was not without improvisation, including dance. Following the long tradition of the ensemble, the concert is dedicated to the graduates of the university. This year they were Ulyana Pavlova, who devoted four years to Jeans-Kantele, and Nikita Filin, who joined the ensemble relatively recently, but managed to take a worthy place in it. Ulyana, who has performed as a soloist in many works, is also the author of the text of a unique Esperanto song that was first performed in this hall.

The ensemble includes students and graduates of Petrozavodsk State University: Alexander Orlov, Ulyana Pavlova, Evgenia Pavlova, Anatoly Gogolev, Nikita Zaitsev, Nikita Filin and the youngest members: Agata, Makar, Alisa.

The audience plunged into the magical world of beautiful music and creativity and thanked the members of the ensemble “Jeans-kantele” for the warmth of hearts and excellent mood with applause.
