SPbPU’s Andrei Rudskoi Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Military Medical Academy

The renowned and oldest military medical school in the country celebrated its 225th birthday. The St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy is a unique educational institution. It trains military doctors for all types and branches of troops. For more than two centuries it has trained thousands of specialists who are the pride not only of the national but also of the world science and medicine. On December 22, the title of Honorary Doctor of the Academy was awarded to Andrei Rudskoi, Rector of SPbPU.

Andrei Rudskoi became Honorary Doctor of the Military Medical Academy

The Military Medical Academy was founded in 1798 by order of Emperor Paul I. It was established to educate and train military doctors, as well as to conduct scientific research in the field of medicine. During its history, the academy has trained many outstanding specialists who made a significant contribution to the development of domestic and world medicine. Such famous scientists as N.I. Pirogov, N.N. Burdenko, I.P. Pavlov and many others worked here. The Academy is also one of the centers of development of new methods of treatment and medical technologies. Today the Academy continues its work, providing education and training of military doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other specialists for the Armed Forces of Russia.

It is doubly pleasant that it was in the days of the anniversary that I was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the Military Medical Academy, commented Andrei Rudskoi on the award. This is certainly an important step towards expanding the dialog and comprehensive cooperation between the Academy, Polytechnic University and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. I am sure that there is a huge layer of real complex science-intensive tasks that we are able to solve together by strengthening the systemic interconnection of various structures, academicians, industrialists, physicians, entrepreneurs, and politicians.
