Sports events organized as part of Fit India observance
ALIGARH : As part of the observance of the Fit India Week at the Aligarh Muslim University, STS School, several inter-house sports activities were held as part of the Fit India observance and the winners of these activities were felicitated with prizes and certificates at a prize distribution ceremony with Prof Asfar Ali Khan, Director, Directorate of School Education, as the chief guest.
In the 100 meter race, the Topaz House stood First, Sapphire House second and Ruby House Third, while the team of Ruby House secured first position, Sapphire House second and Emerald House third in Relay Race. In Cricket, the Emerald House won the final while in Foot Ball, Ruby House emerged as the winner. In the Tug of War, the Topaz House became winner while in the finals of Volley Ball, the Sapphire House got the winner’s trophy. The overall sports championship trophy was given to the Sapphire House.
In his address, Prof. Asfar Ali Khan congratulated the winners and urged the participants to remain high spirited as it is no less important to participate in such activities. He also emphasized the significance of team work and nurturing sportsman spirit.
Mr. Faisal Nafis, Principal, felicitated the sports teachers for successfully organizing the sports fiesta. He said games and sports are important part of students’ life as they get a lot from these in terms of skills, experience, confidence and the team work spirit.
Vice-Principal Mr. Mohd Tariq, Dr. Tanweer Hussain Khan, Ms. Nasreen Fatima, Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan, Mr. Mohammad Asim, Dr. Zeeshan Haider, Mr. Farhan Habib played an important role in organizing the sports events.

At the Centre for Continuing and Adult Education and Extension organized a Kho-Kho match between teams A and B of the learners to highlight the importance of keeping fit and healthy. Team B emerged as the winner.
Giving away the trophy to the winner, the chief guest, Dr Diwan Israr Khan (Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College) urged all to participate in some kind of sports and physical activities to keep fit and spread the awareness among people to strengthen the national Fit India Mission.
The Director of the Centre, Prof Shamim Akhtar urged the learners to make aerobics a part of their daily routine and adopt a healthy lifestyle. He stressed the significance of the old saying that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body.
