STEM ER Centre of OSU-AMU and ISMWS celebrates IWD
Aligarh: The STEM ER Center of OSU-AMU celebrated the International Women’s Day (IWD) in collaboration with International Society of Muslim Women in Science (ISMWS)
ISMWS has members from 31 countries, including a significant number of faculty and student members at AMU, and has been celebrating IWD at AMU sponsored by the Physics Department since 2014.
The program had international and AMU speakers – Dr Hamida Tariq renowned paediatrician, Prof Faiza Abbasi (AMU), Prof Seemin Rubab (NIT-Srinagar), Dr Bushra Ateeq (IIT-Kanpur), Prof Lotfia El Nadi (Cairo University, Egypt), Prof Samina Masood (University of Houston, USA), Dr Hala (National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA), Dr Nasreen Haque (President of Intalage Inc, USA), Zamzama Rahmany (University of Kerala and Afghanistan), and Prof Sultana N Nahar (OSU and Co-Director of STEM ER Center, USA), and the program was conducted by Dr Swaleha Naseem (AMU).
The speakers shared their journey from odds to achievements, each offered scopes and help for students and researchers.
The other important component was initiation of AMU chapter of ISMWS under the patronage of the STEM ER Center with a four student body executive committee headed by Alvia Fahreen of Department of Zoology.
Nine females were recognized for their symbol of courage. The program also included one minute self-introduction by the female participants.
