Students dazzle in Maharashtra’s 14th State-level Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2018

Mumbai: CBS Education Pvt. Ltd, the Master Franchisee of UCMAS for Mumbai Region which consists of 10 districts of Maharashtra, conducted ‘14th State Level UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2018’ today at World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade (Mumbai); more than 4000 students of the ages 4-14 years, across Maharashtra had participated.

Depending on their UCMAS level and their age, each UCMAS student participated in the competition has to solve 200 arithmetic problems in just 8 minutes, eventually racing to solve as many problems as they can.

The event was inaugurated by Father George Athaide, Secretary – Archdiocese of Bombay, RC church, Mumbai.

Chief guests present at the event were Mr. Chris Chew- Executive Director from UC International Corporation (Malaysia), Mr. Alexan Wong- Operation Director from UC International Corporation, Dr. Snehal Karia- President & CEO – UCMAS India and Joint President – UCMAS Canada & USA, Dr. Snehasis Chakraborty (Assistant Professor of Food Technology Department of Food Engineering and Technology) from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mr. Devesh Kumar- UCMAS Master Franchisee UP, Mr. Praveen Salinka- UCMAS Master Franchisee Karnataka

Father George Athaide, Secretary – Archdiocese of Bombay, RC church, Mumbai said, “It brings us immense pride in participating at such a prestigious competition for the Abacus enthusiasts of Maharashtra state. A competition like this is no less than a sport tournament, where the participant needs to be vigilant, apply techniques and be quick. They offer students a platform to apply their training in a timed format, thus challenging them to excel what they have already learnt.”

The competition result announcement and award ceremony with prize distribution will be held on 09th January 2018 at Pracharya Vaidya Sabhagriha, Dadar.

All winners, called as ‘Champions’ will be awarded with cash award of Rs 3000 and their Course Instructor will be awarded cash of Rs 1000/- each. Junior Champion of Champions from Elementary B, Intermediate A and Intermediate B group (III, IV & V Level) will be felicitated with cash award of Rs.11, 000. Senior Champion of Champions as usual from Higher A, Higher B, Advance and Grand Level group (VI ,VII,VIII & Grand Level) will be honoured with cash award of Rs.30,000. Trophies will be awarded to Champions, 1st Runner up, 2nd Runner up, 3rd Runner up and 4th Runner up in each group by the chief guest. Additionally, many will receive Merit Award at different locations post event, including 15 awards for Best Course Instructor and 15 awards for the category of Best Franchisee Award.
