Students Of Ural Federal University Visit Novokoltsovsky Campus

On July 6 a group of students from the Ural Federal University visited the new campus in Novokoltsovsky. The activists toured the dormitories, sports facilities, and the community center and saw for themselves the decent living conditions. The students also talked with Anna Gurariy, Director of the UrFU Department of Political Science and Sociology. She talked about the development of the campus and answered questions.

“The Campus project is unique. It is not just about putting into operation new dormitories, the quantity and quality of which have no analogues in the Russian educational space. It is a scientific infrastructure that will be an impulse not only for the city, the region, but also for the national educational system and science-intensive technologies in general. It is also a sports infrastructure. Today it is already clear that the most comfortable conditions for students will be created not only for studying, doing science, but also for sports,” says Anna Gurariy.

Anna Gurariy emphasized that such large-scale projects certainly bring with them a number of problems, which the Ural Federal University is aware of and is trying to solve as soon as possible. In particular, the problem of transport accessibility is in the work of both the administration of the UFU and the municipal and regional authorities. As a reminder, a decision has already been made to revise the existing bus routes – 65, 01, 44, and 56 – which will be used to provide transportation to the campus.

“The routes will be revised in terms of stops and the number of buses will be increased. In addition, the time intervals between buses will be shortened. This will result in a capacity of about 1,300 people per hour. If this proves insufficient, we will push for more buses and more frequent service. The university understands that students will have different needs and wants in the central part of the city. At the same time, our task is to organize the transportation process in such a way that students have the opportunity to come to the campus from morning to late evening,” Anna Gurariy explained.
