Swinburne’s Commitment: Enhancing International Student Employment Outcomes
Swinburne University of Technology is proud to announce its commitment to improving international student employment outcomes under Victoria’s Commitment to Action campaign.
Swinburne has committed to a number of initiatives to support this campaign, including:
- Offering more work experience – facilitating international students’ access to quality and relevant work experience to build a talent pipeline and organisational diversity.
- Setting targets – marking targets for Work Integrated Learning and post-study employment outcomes.
- Removing barriers – identifying and resolving real or perceived barriers within Swinburne.
- Sharing success stories – promoting and highlighting profiles of international student Work Integrated Learning and post-study employment outcomes.
Swinburne Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), Dr Douglas Proctor, said that Swinburne has made significant strides towards international student employability.
“Moonshot two under Swinburne’s Horizon 2025 strategic plan – ‘every Swinburne graduate gets a job’ – represents one of the key pillars of our offerings to international students.”
“This is supported by our extensive Work Integrated Learning program, which is celebrating 60 years of operation this year. Through our industry partners, we provide students real work experience to help produce graduates that are equipped for next gen careers.”
In 2022, 94% of international students graduating from Bachelor and Associate Degree courses completed a Work Integrated Learning experience.
Launched in October 2022, Victoria’s Commitment to Action campaign directly addresses employment barriers and promotes post-study pathways for global talent.
Swinburne joins close to 20 employers now signed up to the commitment, which forms part of Victoria’s International Education Recovery Plan 2025.
