Tata Power launches Swacch Vidyalaya Campaign in schools of Mumbai
Mumbai: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been committed to the health and wellbeing of the community it serves. In keeping with this philosophy, and as a part of its employee volunteering initiative, Tata Power Community Development Trust launched Swacch Vidyalaya Campaign in five schools located near Tata Power Trombay plant. Under this campaign, employees of Tata Power volunteered to educate the children on the need for personal hygiene, and how it can prevent diseases.
As part of the launch, an inaugural session was organised at Ayodya Nagar BMC school, Vashi Naka, Chembur. A total of 70 school students participated in the session, which included several innovative programmes such as documentary movie, awareness song and educational games, practical demonstration of hygiene practices and a brief discussion with students on learnings from the session. The campaign has been planned as per the guidelines of UNICEF and GoM (Government of Maharashtra), and it aims to reach out to 800 primary school students over this year, spreading awareness on personal hygiene and cleanliness in schools.
Commenting on the launch, Ashok Sethi, COO and ED, Tata Power, said, “Tata Power as a company takes great care of its communities and stakeholders. The company aims to uplift the standards of health, hygiene and nutrition amongst the children of our community, and encourage them to lead a better life. It is our belief that such initiatives will play a vital role in aiding the young minds to take the precautions and also promote inclusive health and hygiene standards. At Tata Power, the health of our community is a top priority, and we are delighted that we will educate the students to lead a healthy life through this campaign.”
Overall, the inaugural session was a great success. As per pre- and post-test, there was an 82 percent improvement in students about the understanding of personal hygiene practices and cleanliness.
