Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management unveils new campus in Mumbai
Mumbai: Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management (TSCFM), one of India’s premier management business schools and part of The Shahani Group of Institutions, announced the launch of its new campus at Mulund, Mumbai. With all other TSCFM campuses operating at 100% capacity coupled with a Y-O-Y growth of 115% in admissions, the new campus has been commissioned with an objective to bridge the demand-supply gap in the education sphere, specifically catering to the vocational and management training. The launch was attended by several prominent personalities including the former Chairman of ISRO A,S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman of Global Dialogue Foundation Peter Gorgievski, Director West India, British Council and Helen Silvester amongst others.
The campus was also designated as the new Global Headquarters for United Civilization by the Global Dialogue Foundation, which works in collaboration with the United Nations to promote and strengthen intercultural diversity, dialogue, and understanding on a global scale.
With the new campus at Mulund being the only institute in the vicinity offering globally recognized international education and certification from UK universities, it will cater to the huge demand observed from students in the area. Furthermore, surveys have shown that 87% of all Indian college graduates are not industry-ready. In fact, two-thirds of all Indian graduates are unfit for jobs, with roughly 57% of job vacancies across sectors like Financial Services, Digital Technology, and Healthcare. With key focus on increased industry exposure and training, critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills, the campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Akhil Shahani, Managing Director, The Shahani Group, said, “The launch of our new campus is a substantial step in our efforts to transform and strengthen Indian education, with an aim of making students job-ready. The move is supported by a 143% increase in demand for specialised international education in India from 1999 to now and in order to meet the high demand for skilled professionals. In fact, owing to this high demand, we are already at 75% enrolment capacity at the campus. Through our range of globally recognised courses, along with an increased exposure to international faculty and industries, students will be equipped to not only take up challenging roles and positions, but also push the limits of their professional capabilities, and achieve new heights, every day.”
Maya Shahani, Chairperson, The Shahani Group said “Apart from working on our students’ employability skills, we are focused on building ethical, heart centric conscious leaders, which is why we are working with Global Dialogue Foundation in order to promote world peace through Unity in Diversity. Identifying our Centre as the Global Headquarters of United Civilizations by GDF has given us the responsibility of garnering all stake holders in civil society to work collaboratively towards a harmonious planet. We will start by promoting Unity in Diversity in campuses and companies”.
A. S. Kiran Kumar, Indian space scientist and ex-ISRO Chairman said, “Thadomal Shahani Group has uniquely leveraged technology to enhance the skill sets and capabilities of Indian students, to cater to the ever-changing global market. I appreciate the substantial contribution that the Shahani Group has made to the education sector and laud the great work that they have been doing for decades.”
Helen Silvester, Director British Council – West India said, ‘’I am really excited to be a part of the opening ceremony of the new Thodamal Shahani Centre for Management campus. The British Council has been engaging with the Shahani Group since 2015 in its efforts to develop academic co-operation with UK universities and I’m thrilled that yet another partnership with a UK university has been cemented. The UK’s higher education sector is amongst the best in the world with two out of the top three universities in the Times Higher Education World rankings. UK qualifications can open doors to opportunities, providing life-changing experiences that can lead to exciting careers, where students develop critical thinking, creativity and confidence that employers look for and which helps them stand out when entering the competitive global job market”
Peter (Pece) Gorgievski, Chairman of Global Dialogue Foundation said “Establishing the United Civilizations initiative HQ in India is a landmark moment for citizens and cultures around the world. The centre will help strengthen and multiply efforts focused on building inclusive societies and a global culture of peace. On behalf of Global Dialogue Foundation, we congratulate Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management on this outstanding step forward!”
