The Academic Choir of PetrSU is preparing for the “Rainbow” festival-competition
Nikolay Matashin, head of the Academic Choir of PetrSU, spoke about the preparations for the International Choir Festival-Competition. I.V. Roganova “Rainbow”.
This is a modern prestigious choir competition, which is held in one of the best concert halls in the world – in the St. Petersburg State Academic Capella. This bright event is an integral part of the cultural life of the northern capital.
Every year the festival-competition brings together about 50 choral groups from Russia and Europe. The international jury of “Rainbow” includes famous choral conductors and musicians.
Nikolay Matashin noted:
We have been preparing for this event for the second year already. Before the pandemic, we had to go there for the first time, but fate decreed otherwise. The best teams of Russia will gather at the best venues in St. Petersburg. For us, this is a special competition also because our old friend, one of the best choral conductors of our time, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, Professor Boris Georgievich Abalyan will conduct a master class at our choir. In addition to the competition part, there will also be festival concerts in the city’s cathedrals. The Grand Prix and the closing ceremony of the competition will take place in the Capella, the best hall for choirs.
International Choir Festival-Competition. I.V. Roganova “Rainbow” will be held for the 23rd time in an offline format in St. Petersburg on May 10-12.
The distinctive features of the festival-competition “Rainbow” include: the possibility of participation of groups of different age categories; a wide range of genres (classical, jazz, folklore, etc.), performances at the best venues in the city and a gala concert in the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg.
