The preeminent team of Art of Living JnK Chapter planted 1000 Trees in 10 days

The Art of Living J&K chapter successfully conducted a ten-day plantation drive, wherein more than 1000 trees were planted in and around Jammu city.

 

The Art of Living is a non-profit organization operating in 156 countries. The educational and humanitarian organization was founded in 1981 by the world-renowned humanitarian and spiritual teacher – Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Under Gurudev’s vision, the teachers and volunteers at Art of Living have promoted development and progress through diverse humanitarian projects. These projects span various areas like the Education sector, Health and hygiene, Environment protection and sustainability, Women empowerment and child protection, Integrated Community, Development projects, Disaster relief management, Prisoner rehabilitation, Conflict resolution, and many more.

The plantation drive which started on 8th August for 10 days till 17th August, began from Ved Mandir Amphala and covered all major areas of the city, including Gajansoo Marh, Pata Bohri, Roopnagar, Channi Himmat, and Gandhi Nagar, Sarwal along with significant districts of Samba (Sarore) and Kathua (Basohli).
The enthusiastic volunteer team included Ritvik Mahajan, Akshita Sharma, Sunny Sharma, Dr. Kanika Sharma, Dr. Aashima Singh, Ranjoy, Vikhyat Vaid, and Dr. Aayushi. The drive was supported by the Department of Social forest department, Govt. School authorities, NGOs, and bloggers from Jammu and Kashmir. Mostly medicinal and herbal plants such as Beda, Amla, Jamun, Chinar, Alstonia, Sukh Chain, Chinar were planted across Jammu city during the ten days of the plantation drive.

elaborated That The plantation drive focused on creating a greener Jammu city and a sustainable future for the coming generation. A careful assessment of the areas requiring green cover was carried to make the initiative a success at the ground level, furthermore The Art of Living organization has worked globally towards many environmental situations and natural calamities.Under Tree Plantation Project till now 81 million trees planted in 36 countries and 26 Indian states by Art of living which includes 2 milliom Lakshmi Taru saplings planted across India, Also known as Simarouba decoction it is used in traditional medicine in the treatment of cancer and tumors. 6,21,581 Trees are also planted under River Rejuvenation Projects. Further Mission Green Earth 2021 was also launched with a Goal to plant 10 Million saplings in next 5 years (2021-2025)
