Tribal week celebration begins at Mughal Maidan; 18 FRA certificates provided to beneficiaries; painting competition organised for children

 

KISHTWAR : Department of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar today launched the Tribal week celebration here at TRC Mughal Maidan to mark “JanJati Gorav Diwas” being held across the country to commemorate Tribal Freedom Fighter Leader Birsa Munda.

During the programme, different activities including painting competition, felicitation ceremony and cultural items were presented.

In the painting competition, a total of 20 students participated and the first three winners were awarded with prizes. The main attraction of the programme was the Khatak Dance by the tribal artists.

Later, Jaffer Hussain, a local Tribal youth presently pursuing PG degree course in Jammu University’s Bhaderwah campus was also felicitated on the occasion.

Meanwhile, 18 Forest Rights Act Certificates were also handed over to the beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC stated that Rashtriya JanJati Gorav Diwas is celebrated in the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters who showed immense courage and made supreme sacrifice so that coming generations know about them.

He added that today is the birth anniversary of Sri Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country and he fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial system.

He also threw light on Forest Right Act and “Aapki Zameen Aapki Nigrani” online land record system and urged people especially ST community to avail the benefits of dedicated schemes.
