Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launches 4 Year Bachelor Science Degree in Electronic Systems at IIT Madras

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that all the recommendations of the New Education Policy had flexibility whether it was job-oriented courses or entrepreneurship-oriented or credit framework type of educational courses.

Launching the four Year Bachelor Science Degree in Electronic Systems at IIT Madras, he has said that multiple entry and exits have been allowed and also affordability in the Indian higher education system with quality and accessibility are present in this BS in Electronic systems.

The Minister said that the key objective of the programme is to meet the significant and growing demand for skilled graduates in the electronics and embedded manufacturing sector in India. The programme also features multiple exits and the students can get a foundational level certificate, Diploma or the BS degree, he added. He said that students graduating from the programme can find job opportunities in industries such as automotive, semiconductor and defence among others for positions like Electronic system designer, embedded system developer, Electronic hardware specialist, system testing engineer and electronics research engineer.

The programme aligns with the India semiconductor mission to make India a global hub for electronics manufacturing and design. This is the second online BS degree programme from the Institution following BS Degree in Data Science and Applications which has more than 17 thousand students currently.
