University of Helsinki: 9 University of Helsinki scholars among the world’s most highly cited researchers

9 University of Helsinki researchers have been named on the annual Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list. 7 of the researchers have their primary affiliation at the University, while 2 work primarily elsewhere.

Highly Cited Researchers list ranks scholars whose articles other scholars around the world have cited the most in 2011–2021.

The list identifies researchers from across the globe who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index.

Web of Science indexing and search service covers peer-reviewed published research articles especially in the natural sciences and medicine. Due to this, scholars of the humanities and education, among others, are not included on the list.
