University of London delegation visits Peking University
Recently, Adam Habib, vice-chancellor of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, led a delegation to visit Peking University (PKU). Jiang Guohua, vice council chair of PKU, hosted the guests at Linhuxuan.
Jiang welcomed Habib’s visit to PKU, recalling the history of in-depth cooperation and exchanges between PKU and the UK’s higher education and research institutions. On behalf of the School, Jiang expressed hope to further strengthen collaboration with the SOAS and other UK universities in fields including regional studies, archaeology, and art, to cultivate more professionals of top caliber.
Habib expressed his gratitude to PKU for the invitation, and proceeded to introduce the SOAS, highlighting its development and teaching philosophy. He also proposed implementing joint degree programs, student exchanges, and other modes of cooperation. This would hopefully enhance the synergy between faculties and encourage more exchange between the teachers and students of both schools, bringing the partnership to a new height.
After the meeting, Habib and his delegation visited the PKU National School of Development to participate in the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development’s Workshop on Global Development, where Habib delivered a keynote speech titled “The Global South and Higher Education in the 21st Century.”
