University Of Nottingham gets UK’s spookiest immersive experiences

Thrill-seekers across the East Midlands will have the chance to try one of the UK’s spookiest immersive experiences when it comes to Lakeside Arts at the University of Nottingham in just two weeks.

SÉANCE is an intense, interactive performance that uses sensory deprivation and 360-degree sound to create a thrilling, psychological experience. It’s been created by the renowned immersive production company, DARKFIELD, and is set in a 24-foot shipping container, which has been transformed into a Victorian séance room. It seats up to 20 people and, once the lights go out, SÉANCE uses group psychology and spatial audio technology to create a theatrical paranormal experience that has been dubbed one of the spookiest in the country.

DARKFIELD lead the way in delivering extraordinary theatre in the dark experiences and I’m thrilled that, alongside Adelaide Fringe and Taiwan appearances, they’re back with a third residency at Lakeside. Séance is sublimely spooky and its binaural evocations toy brilliantly with our imaginations. Just don’t lift your hands from the table..!
Shona Powell, Director of Nottingham Lakeside Arts
DARKFIELD’s critically acclaimed ‘container shows’ have been presented at some of the world’s largest arts festivals, including Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe, impressing global audiences in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, China and South Korea.

DARKFIELD has showcased two productions at Lakeside in recent years, however, SÉANCE is the first experience that the company created.

We’re so happy to be invited back to the Lakeside with our very first show – and our biggest hit! We’re thrilled with the response from audiences we’ve received so far and we hope, with Séance, to reach even more people, whilst cementing the brilliant relationship we have built with this wonderful venue.
Glen Neath, Artistic Director, DARKFIELD
SÉANCE will run at Lakeside Arts from Tuesday 21st March until Sunday 2nd April. The experience is suitable for people over the age of 14 and participants are reminded that it is a theatrical performance for entertainment purposes only. Each experience lasts for twenty minutes and bookings are available from Tuesday-Sunday.
