University of Tübingen: New members in the university council
The Tübingen University Council met for the first time on Tuesday with a new composition. Professor Irmgard Männlein-Robert and Professor Heike Oberlin took up a three-year term of office. They succeed Professor Stefanie Gropper and Sandra Kauenhowen, who left the University Council on September 30th. The new members were unanimously elected by the Senate of the University of Tübingen on the proposal of a selection committee.
As an advisory representative of the Ministry of Science, Dr. Justus Lentsch, succeeding Dr. Uwe Kernbach. The committee also confirmed Bernhard Sibold as chairman and Professor Oliver Kohlbacher as deputy chairman. They hold the chair for a further term until September 30, 2024.
Irmgard Männlein-Robert has been Professor of Classical Philology and Greek Studies at the University of Tübingen since 2006 and is involved in the Collaborative Research Centers “Threatened Orders”, “Resource Cultures” and “Other Aesthetics”. Among other things, she is a liaison professor of the German National Academic Foundation, a member of the DFG Review Board “Ancient Cultures”, Vice-President of the international Plato Society and, since 2016, a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.
Heike Oberlin has been an adjunct professor of Indology at the University of Tübingen since 2016, Managing Director of the Department of Indology and was the intiator for the establishment of the guest lecturer “Gundert Chair for Malalayam” at the university. Among other things, she is deputy spokeswoman for DFG-Fachkollegiat 106 “Social and Cultural Anthropology, Non-European Cultures, Jewish Studies and Religious Studies” and spokeswoman for the “State Representation of Academic Middle Schools at the Universities of Baden-Württemberg”.
