upGrad launches ‘upGrad Jeet’ for the INR 400 Bn Govt. job-entrance exam market

Mumbai: upGrad rebrands its 100% subsidiary The Gate Academy (TGA) as ‘upGrad Jeet’ and launches a new business solution for the Government job preparation exam market.

This development closely follows the recent Government announcement that a Common Eligibility Test (CET) will replace the erstwhile multiple tests, saving both time and resources. upGrad Jeet’s role would be more nuanced to cater to the CET, which targets non-gazette posts in the central and state-level government jobs as well as public sector banks.

The move to launch upGrad Jeet aligns with the brand’s ambition of Rural India penetration strategy in making Bharat employable. This also marks the higher edtech leader upGrad’s foray into the INR 400 Billion test preparation market for government exams pan India.

Ritesh Raushan, CEO – upGrad Jeet commented, “The real intent here is to democratize education and bring out meritocracy from the deepest corners of the country. As someone born in rural India and facing a lack of opportunities to prepare for important exams, I understand the issue of accessibility to quality education firsthand. Hence our vision at upGrad Jeet is to get the best teachers in the country and offer their tutoring to students in the remotest parts of the country by leveraging technology, thus democratising education.”

Mayank Kumar, Co-Founder, and MD, upGrad added, “With upGrad Jeet, we have differentiated and extended our line of solutions to drive career outcomes for the youths of Bharat. This will build our business in the Government job test prep market. Complementary to our market dominance in the higher edtech space, this is a step towards upGrad’s foray into and eventually leading the test-prep market.”

upGrad Jeet aims to create 18000 hours of learning content in Hindi and English (50% Hindi – 50% English) as most of the Govt job aspirants come from Hindi speaking markets. Its differentiated offering from other players in the market is multifold. Firstly, upGrad Jeet will create a classroom experience online to enhance the interactivity and engagement between learners and teachers. Besides that, leveraging technology the brand will focus on learners receiving deep personalization ranging from mentorship, counselling to career guidance, thus ensuring overall development of the learners and them having a stronger chance of winning (‘jeet’) in the career field.
