Ural Federal University: CWTS Leiden Ranking: UrFU Retains Its Top-5 Position Among Russian Universities

Ural Federal University took 5th place among Russian universities in the international Leiden ranking (CWTS Leiden Ranking), which evaluates the publication activity of universities in 2016-2019.

Of all UrFU affiliated publications 4.2% entered the top 10% of their field. 4 UrFU publications entered top 1% – all in Physical sciences and engineering. All UrFU publications generated 3385 citations.

This year, the number of ranked universities has increased from 1176 to 1225. The list includes universities from 69 countries, compared to last year, their number increased by 4 countries. The CWTS Leiden Ranking is based on bibliographic data from the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database. It is a multifactorial ranking based on the ranking of universities based on their publication activity depending on the choice of indicators: scientific influence, collaboration, open access and gender diversity. Publications must be in English, be of the Article or Review type, include one or more authors and be published in international scientific journals.
