Ural Federal University: Employees of the University Nominated for the Most Famous People of Ekaterinburg Award
EKB. Sobaka.ru magazine announced the nominees for the award “Top 50. The most famous people of Ekaterinburg”. The “Top-50” award is a media project, which aims to identify outstanding Ural residents who have made a breakthrough in their field of work.
The nominees in the “Science and Life” category were Anatoly Zatsepin, professor at Ural Federal University; Irina Utepova, professor at the Department of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at Ural Federal University; Aleksandr Lemekh, director of the “Laboratory of the Future” innovative company and chief ideologist of the “Kanatokhod” project.
Anatoly Zatsepin was nominated for his research that weak doses of radiation can destroy coronavirus infection without harming the human body. The discovery could be a breakthrough for the development of a treatment for coronavirus infections.
In turn, Irina Utepova was noted for the development of chemical compounds capable of stopping the course of brain pathologies. The research can help in the treatment of some of the most rapidly progressing diseases of the world’s adult population – Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
