Ural Federal University Extends Agreements with Leading Universities in Northeast China
The Ural Federal University strengthens its cooperation with higher education institutions in the People’s Republic of China. This time the focus is on the northeast of China. Rector Victor Koksharov held negotiations with his colleagues from the Harbin Institute of Technology and the Harbin University of Science and Technology.
“The “turn to the East” outlined last year continues with real work. We have renewed and extended agreements with leading Chinese universities. For example, interaction with the Harbin Institute of Technology began back in the days of the Ural Polytechnic Institute and involves scientific cooperation and academic exchanges. We also have a number of joint projects with the Harbin University of Science and Technology,” Koksharov pointed out.
Victor Koksharov visited Harbin during the official visit of the delegation of the Sverdlovsk Region headed by the Deputy Governor Vasily Kozlov. Then the rector went to Henan Province, where the Luoyang-Ural International University for 10,000 students is to be opened.
The creation of the joint university is planned in several stages. In the first stage it is planned to create five or six Bachelor’s programs with an annual enrollment of up to 500 students. In the second stage it is planned to open another 20 Bachelor’s programs and five to seven Master’s programs with an annual enrollment of up to 2 thousand people.
