Several hundred high school students from Ulaanbaatar visited today the stand of Ural Federal University at the VII National Educational Exhibition “Russian Education – 2022”. The event was organized by the local representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo. The opening took place in the Russian House in the Mongolian capital.

“Soviet and Russian higher education traditionally attracts the attention of representatives of Mongolia. We see interest in engineering and everything related to medicine. The university and Ekaterinburg offer great opportunities for Mongolian students,” notes Sergey Tushin, Ural Federal University Vice Rector for International Relations.

Traditionally, the bridge between the new generation of Mongolian students and the university was made by the alumni. They took part in the exhibition and told the applicants about the university and Russia.

“The Mongolian Alumni Association will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. But, of course, our city and this country have long years of cooperation, it is not without reason that many of our graduates now occupy prominent positions in Mongolia,” reminds Aleksandr Ponomarev, executive director of the UrFU Alumni Association.

The Russian House in Ulaanbaatar also hosted an extended meeting of the local chapter of the Alumni Association with the participation of a delegation headed by Victor Koksharov, the rector of Ural Federal University. The meeting was preceded by a meeting of the head of the university with the acting director of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Mongolia. Victor Koksharov invited Valeria Kilpyakova to participate in the Russian language forum organized by the university in December under the Creative Labs project.

“More than 100 Mongolian teachers of Russian as a foreign language have already participated in our Creative Labs. Dozens of sessions were held, that allowed teachers to learn how to form and develop listening skills in their students,” noted the rector.

During the visit to Ulaanbaatar, the UrFU delegation also takes part in the International rally of Russian and Soviet graduates on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of Mongolian youth’s education in Russia. In addition, Victor Koksharov together with the heads of other universities is working at the forum on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Mongolian National University, which is being celebrated these days.
