“Ekaterinburg in Lines” is the name of the new exposition in the exhibition hall of the UrFU Scientific Library (4 Turgeneva street, room 267). The exhibition is a part of the series of events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the city – “Book tour around Ekaterinburg”. The exhibition is a kind of guide to the cultural life of the city in books, photographs and fine arts. You can read more about the project in the latest issue of the Ural Federal Newspaper (No. 4, March 6).

Ekaterinburg has a rich literary history associated with the names of famous writers and poets: Nikolay Nikonov, Vladislav Krapivin, Boris Ryzhy, Yuri Kazarin, Nikolay Kolyada, Anna Matveeva, Aleksey Salnikov, Olga Slavnikova, and many others. To this day, books by local writers are in great demand and resonate with readers. Knowledge of their creative biographies and works helps to better understand the history and culture of their native city, expands and enriches the knowledge of the small motherland.

“The icons of the region are undoubtedly Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak and Pavel Bazhov. Their works continue to fascinate with their language and folklore images. The motifs of their tales and stories inspire the creativity of many Urals artists, no matter what techniques and directions they work in. The exposition of the exhibition is perfectly complemented by graphic illustrations to the works of the “Singers of the Urals”. The illustrations were created by the artist Victor Sysoev, Associate Professor at the Department of Cultural Studies and Design of the UrFU,” the library says.

The exhibition will be open until the end of April. You can visit the exhibition hall on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00.
