Ural Federal University: Three University Professors Received Honorary Titles

Presidential Decree No. 671 “On Awarding State Awards of the Russian Federation” was published. Thus, Professor Aleksey Babushkin was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Higher School of the Russian Federation”, Aleksandr Krasilnikov – “Honored Worker of the Nuclear Industry of the Russian Federation”, and Vyacheslav Markov – “Honored Chemist of the Russian Federation”.

Aleksey Babushkin, professor at the Department of Condensed State Physics and Nanoscale Systems at the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, graduated from the Physics Department of Urals State University (now UrFU). He has been working at the university since 1974. One of the founders of the Department of Low Temperature Physics (1982), the modern cryogenic station. Creator of scientific directions related to the research of low-temperature solid electrolytes, the study of the properties of condensed media under extreme conditions of high and ultrahigh pressures, low temperatures, intense thermal loads. From 2017 to the present, he has been the director of the School of Science of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Aleksandr Krasilnikov, professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technologies, Machines and Tools, Institute of New Materials and Technologies, was awarded the title for his services in scientific and pedagogical activities, training of qualified personnel for the nuclear industry and many years of conscientious work. The main direction of the professor’s scientific work is designing, manufacturing and operation of sealed machines and apparatuses with magnetic couplings and systems. With his participation more than 45 special sealed machines and apparatuses with magnetic couplings and systems were developed and introduced into nuclear, chemical and biological industries, which allow to protect operating personnel and the environment from exposure to hazardous substances.

Vyacheslav Markov, head of the Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry and Technology, was awarded the title “Honored Chemist of the Russian Federation” for his services in the field of chemistry, training of qualified specialists and many years of conscientious work. He graduated from the Physical Engineering Department of UPI (now Ural Federal University) with a degree in Technology of Rare, Scattered and Radioactive Elements. His work experience is more than 35 years. One of the professor’s researches is devoted to environmentally safe and low-budget technology of recycling industrial sorbents (ion-exchange resins).
