Ural Federal University to Highlight Promising Trends in Organic Chemistry

Chemists will discuss new ways of creating functional materials, green chemistry, promising directions in biopharmaceuticals, and much more. On September 11, the VII International Conference “Modern Synthetic Methodologies for the Creation of Drugs and Functional Materials” was opened in Ekaterinburg. The event will be attended by scientists from various Russian cities, as well as experts from other countries.

“The Conference of Organic Chemists will be held in Ekaterinburg for the seventh time. Over the years it has become a tradition and has established itself as an invariably bright scientific event, attractive both for renowned scientists and young scientists. Year by year the conference attracts more and more interest, and becomes bigger and more popular. The registered participants number this year exceeds 400, and most of them are young scientists,” the conference organizers note.

At the symposia and breakout sessions, participants and invited speakers will cover a wide range of topics, including “Synthesis and Properties of Organic Compounds”, “Medical and Bioorganic Chemistry”, “Chemistry of Inorganic and Hybrid Materials”, “Chemistry of Organoelement Compounds” and others. For the first time, the conference will include a section on supramolecular chemistry, presented by leading experts in the field.

“The conference will give a boost to scientific communication and collaboration between research centers and will focus the attention of students and young scientists on truly meaningful issues. It will help not only in the development of basic science but also in the search for new functional materials that will make our lives easier – from the moment we get solar energy to the moment we put on a ‘smart’ Band-Aid,” says Kirill Grzhegorzhevskiy, Head of the Laboratory of Functional Design of Polyoxometalate Nanoclusters at the Ural Federal University.

The conference will be held in two cities – on September 11-12 in Ekaterinburg and on September 13-16 in Perm. Participation in the reports is free for all students of the Ural Federal University.
