Ural Federal University: UIREC Jointly with Rosatom to Develop a Project on Energy
Representatives of Rosatom and Victor Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center, took part in the discussion “Projects of Research and Education Centers as a Basis for Import Substitution and Development of Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Strategy of Regions and the Russian Federation” which took place at the Innoprom-2022 exhibition.
“Interaction with research and education centers is important for the development of two-component nuclear power, which includes the construction of the BN-1200 reactor in the Sverdlovsk Region. The field of hydrogen power engineering, including high-temperature gas reactors, electrolyzers, and fuel cells, is topical. A new direction that we started is creation of magnetic systems (permanent magnets), which are directly linked with obtaining rare-earth metals,” said Aleksey Dub, First Deputy General Director of JSC Science and Innovations.
Research and Education Center provides not only integration of higher education, but also academic science and trains in-demand specialists for the nuclear industry. Since 2021, the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center has started training students in separate modules of the Master’s Degree Program “Management of Scientific and Technical Projects”.
