Ural Federal University: University Climbs THE Rankings in Business and Economics

Ural Federal University moved to the top 251-300 of the Business and Economics subject areas of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2022.

A better position in this rankings is an important factor ensuring competitiveness and international recognition of the level of educational and scientific activity in the field of economics and management of UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management.

GSEM UrFU entered THE Business and Economics subject areas rankings for the first time in 2019 into the group of 401-500. In 2020, despite all the restrictions due to the pandemic, the growth was continuing — the institute entered the group of 301-400. The group of 251-300 has been reached now. Thus, for the third year in a row, the institute has been improved its position in the global subject ranking.

The THE Rankings in Business and Economics subject areas consists of five main components: citation, scientific activity, internationalization, education and income from interaction with industry. UrFU has achieved the greatest success in internationalization (1st place in Russia), income from interaction with industry (2nd place in the country), citations and scientific activities (4th position in Russia).

An important factor in the success of UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management was the decision made by the director of the Institute Dmitry Tolmachev on the implementation of the project of promotion in QS and THE rankings by subject.

“The services responsible for strategy, interaction with Russian and foreign partners and employers, supervised by staff members (Svetlana Kovalenko, Zhanna Belyaeva, Ekaterina Demchenko and Daria Matusevich), domestic and foreign researchers (the greatest contribution to the citation of our publications from Alberto Ferraris, Kazi Sohag and Ivan Savin), as well as teachers of the Institute, made a great contribution to strengthening the positions of INEU UrFU,” said the representatives of GSEM UrFU.
