Ural Federal University: University Graduate Awarded as One of the Best Scientists

Ruslan Valiev, a graduate of the Ural Polytechnic Institute (now Ural Federal University), was listed as one of the most cited scientists in 2021 by Stanford University.

In the list of 100,000 researchers, he ranked 751st and was in the top 2% of the most productive researchers. This is one of the highest results among Russian scientists. In the Materials and Applied Physics subfields, the UrFU graduate ranks 8th out of 6032 and 17th out of 5370 scientists, respectively.

Ruslan Valiev is one of the leading specialists in the field of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies in Russia and abroad, the author of more than 800 publications, the owner of more than 35 patents and certificates of authorship for inventions. The total number of citations of his works exceeds 46 thousand, and his Hirsch index, which, according to the Web of Science platform, is 97, is also one of the highest in Russia. This is a citation index that reflects both the number of citations and the total number of articles.

Ruslan Valiev graduated from Ural Polytechnic Institute in 1972 with a degree in physics of metals, after which he left for Ufa to pursue a scientific career and study superplastic materials. Valiev is active in scientific activities, discovering new and improving existing methods of work in the field of nanotechnology.
