Ural Federal University: University Lyceum Teacher Honored with State Award

Galina Prokina, a teacher of the UrFU Specialized Education and Research Center, was awarded a certificate of honor by the President of the Russian Federation for her contribution in the field of education and many years of conscientious work. The corresponding decree was signed by Vladimir Putin.

She is not only an excellent teacher, but also a regular participant in the lyceum’s creative events, where she performs her own compositions playing the guitar. The whole staff of the Specialized Education and Research Center congratulates her colleague with a well-deserved award and is proud of her!” Maxim Ryabtsev, Academic Director of UrFU Specialized Education and Research Center, noted.

Galina Prokina is a graduate of Ural State University (now UrFU) with a degree in Astronomy and Geodesy, and has been a teacher of physics and astronomy at Specialized Education and Research Center since 2014. She has developed distance learning courses in astronomy for students majoring in physics and mathematics and non-core 10th and 11th grades, optional courses for Olympiad and observational trainings in astronomy, and compiled a collection of assignments for students’ field observation practice in astronomy.

Under the guidance of Galina Prokina more than 70 students became winners and prize-winners of the regional and final stages of the All-Russian Olympiad of Schoolchildren in Astronomy, All-Russian Open and International Olympiads of Schoolchildren in Astronomy. Teams of students became prize-winners and winners of the Ural physical and astronomical tournaments more than 10 times.
