Ural Federal University: University Plans to Double Enrollment of Egyptian Students by 2023

The Ural Federal University plans to double the number of students in the Preparatory Department of the Division of International Educational Programs by 2023. In the upcoming academic year, the Ural Center in Cairo plans to enroll 100 people in engineering and biomedical sciences.

The building of the Сenter in the Egyptian capital was opened by Sergey Knyazev, Ural Federal University’s Director of Academic Affairs.

“The Center, which was founded a year ago, teaches graduates of Egyptian schools the Russian language and prepares them for admission to leading Russian universities. The quality of education is ensured by the teaching staff of our Preparatory Department. The new building, provided by our partner Media Arab, will be able to accommodate more students in comfortable conditions, which allows us to plan for an increase in enrollment,” says Knyazev.

Certificates for the first 58 graduates of the Ural Center, who started their studies last November, will be presented by Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU. The ceremony will take place at the Russian House in Cairo, a representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.

The Director of Academic Affairs adds that the opening of the Center in Cairo allowed the university to accept students for a full preparatory year. Its main goal is to increase opportunities for Egyptian students to study in Ural Federal University’s educational programs, as well as the accessibility of higher education.

The Center’s students, young Egyptians from various cities, spent the fall semester learning Russian. During the spring semester they mastered general education subjects and special disciplines necessary for admission to Russian universities.
