Ural Federal University: University Professor Becomes Honorary Doctor of UrFU
Professor of the Ural Federal University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeniy Popov was elected Honorary Doctor of UrFU. His significant achievements in the development of economic science and education and his great personal contribution to the training of highly qualified personnel were noted.
Professor Popov’s research interests include the study of the principles of the shared economy, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and the impact of digitalization on urban agglomeration management.
The award has been given since 1995. Of the four dozen honorary doctors of UrFU, Evgeniy Popov is the fifth economist. Earlier this high title was awarded to Mikhail Gorbachev, the first and only president of the USSR, Miloš Zeman, the third and current president of the Czech Republic, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Head of the Germany’s Federal Office for Foreign Relations, Niklaus Wirth, a Swiss scientist and other scientists and artists who have contributed to the development of society.
