Ural Federal University: Youth Laboratories Will Strengthen Russian Science
The modern youth laboratories being created at Ural Federal University will make it possible to adequately respond to the key challenges that Russian enterprises face today. First and foremost, this concerns the modernization of production and increasing the competitiveness of manufactured products. Success in these areas will make the task of import substitution feasible, which is now becoming especially important. This was stated by Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, at a meeting with the university’s young scientists, winners of the Sverdlovsk Region Governor’s Award.
“I want to thank our scientists for their excellent scientific work. All of our programs and plans provide for the development of youth science – from the allocation of funds to create additional rates for young scientists to the purchase of new equipment. The participation of the university in the Priority 2030 program will make it possible to move in this direction at the necessary pace. The development of the Urals Interregional Scientific and Educational Center will also play a major role, and two youth laboratories have already been established within its framework. The creation of new ones is in prospect,” said Victor Koksharov.
The rector of Ural Federal University noted that the university is ready to solve the housing problem as part of its support for young scientists. For example, this year we plan to open a new dormitory for 1,229 people, where young scientists will live.
At the last meeting the head of the Youth Laboratory of Advanced Technologies for the Integrated Processing of Mineral and Man-Made Mineral Resources of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous Metals Denis Rogozhnikov thanked the administration of the university for the support of young scientists and expressed confidence that this activity will practically help the economy of the country.
“Our laboratory is actively developing, out of 19 people we have 6 students, there are even third-year bachelors. They are very talented students, and they are eager to create new things. We are ready to expand this activity with the support of the university. Our focus is applied, technological, we work in close contact with our enterprises and are able to solve many of their problems”, emphasized Denis Rogozhnikov.
