UrFU Achieves Eighth Place in Russia in the Three University Missions Ranking

In the new “Three University Missions” Moscow International University Ranking the Ural Federal University maintained its eighth place among Russian higher education institutions. In the global ranking UrFU took the 239th place.

“The university is constantly working to improve its competitiveness. This allows us to improve the quality of educational services so that our graduates can easily find a good, well-paid job and build a successful career. We are also actively developing scientific research, including applied research, so that our developments can be used by companies to improve their efficiency in the shortest possible time. In addition, we do not reduce the level of international cooperation, we actively develop our relations with many friendly countries and maintain a high publication activity. In short, we are doing our best for successful development and a worthy response to the challenges of the times,” says Victor Koksharov, the Rector of UrFU.

The rector emphasizes that an important feature of this ranking is that it significantly reduces the influence of subjective factors in the evaluation of universities and emphasizes their role in the development of territories.

The Moscow International University Ranking evaluates all three key missions of a university: education, science and interaction with society. The initiative to create the ranking was supported by leading universities in Russia, China, India, Iran, Turkey and Japan. Its methodology has been the subject of extensive public discussion in Russia and abroad, with the participation of over 100 universities. This is the first global rating that takes into account the third mission of the university.

The formation of the “Three Missions of the University” ranking was initiated by the Russian Union of Rectors in accordance with the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
