UrFU Graduate Anna Matveeva Authors Text for Total Dictation 2024

Anna Matveeva will write the text for Total Dictation 2024. Anna Matveeva is a journalist, editor, multiple finalist of the Big Book Award, and a graduate of the Ural State University (now the Ural Federal University). This was announced on September 8, the International Literacy Day, in Nizhny Tagil, the capital of Total Dictation 2023. According to the press service of the project, a literacy festival was held there.

“The author of the text is a key figure in the life of the action every season. Hundreds of thousands of participants write his text and remember the basic rules of the Russian language in the preparation courses. The course is developed by the Philological Council of the Campaign, taking into account examples from his works. The author actively participates in the life of the project, in the events of the season, communicates with the media, and becomes the face of “Total Dictation” for this period. Therefore, the selection of the author and his announcement is an important and exciting event for all of us,” said Vyacheslav Belyakov, Director of the Total Dictation Foundation.

The dictation will be held on April 20, 2024, all over the world. The Ural Federal University traditionally supports the action, acting as one of the largest platforms in the city and checking the work of the participants.

“Of course, like many writers, I dreamed of being the author of Total Dictation and secretly tried to get the chance. Still, it was a complete surprise for me. Very happy. The text that the participants will write on April 20 will be dedicated to diaries: I have been interested in them for a long time – both as a phenomenon and as a genre. As a writer and as a person. There were other ideas that I considered, but I decided on this one because I think that a text of this size should be written not only about what you know well but also about what you love,” Anna Matveeva shared her impressions.
