Ural Federal University Elevates Comfort with Summer Overhaul of Campus Facilities

It is a tradition that during the summer vacation various departments of the Ural Federal University work on improving the living conditions of students. The latest issue of the Ural Federal Newspaper (No. 14, September 11) reports on what the university managed to repair and renovate during the summer – both in the dormitories and in the academic buildings.

When the university becomes a second home

“The summer of 2023 was very busy for the university. The University International Sports Festival in Ekaterinburg left behind a new UrFU campus in Novokoltsovsky. Two dormitories of this campus have already been accepted by the university, and the acceptance of other facilities is underway,” said Albert Sharafutdinov, Deputy Vice-Rector for General Affairs.

In addition, the new dormitory No. 9 at 8 Fonvizin Street was finally prepared for occupancy in the summer. The renovation of the dormitory at 71 Bolshakov Street was completed: the 78-bed residential units were renovated and the kitchens were converted into kitchen-dining rooms. They are now being furnished.

Students of the UrFU Specialized Education and Research Center also moved into the renovated dormitories.

Oh sport, you are the world!

This summer, the repair of the sports complex at 14 Kominterna Street was completed, and now it is being furnished with furniture and equipment. Very soon everything will be ready for use.

Thus, in combination with the grounds of the Novokolcovsky campus, this year’s students will have a variety of comfortable and convenient facilities for practicing sports.

Getting to class quickly

This year, two elevators were installed in the educational building at Turgenev Street 4. This will make studying more comfortable not only for students with disabilities, but also for all participants of the educational process without exception. In the summer, the elevator halls were completed.

In addition, an updated checkroom will help save time on the way from the building entrance to the classroom. The first automated line for 500 spaces has been installed. This will make it possible to avoid queues in the morning to hand in outerwear.

Comfortable classrooms

The record-holder for the number of classrooms renovated this summer is the Institute of Construction and Architecture building on 17 Mira Street. Major repairs were made to classrooms C-204, C-208, C-209, C-213 and C-218.
