UrFU to Train Volunteers for the World Youth Festival

The Ural Federal University opened a center for recruiting and training volunteers for the World Youth Festival. The center will work on selecting and training volunteers from six regions of Russia. It will also coordinate their work at the festival. The agreement on the opening of the center was signed by Victor Koksharov, the rector of the Ural Federal University, and Larisa Sulima, the Deputy Director General of the ANO Directorate of the World Youth Festival.

“Today we are signing an agreement to prepare a very important and significant event that will be held in the country next year. We are already receiving applications from 180 countries, and the festival is designed to unite young people from all over the world. It is impossible to organize such an event without the help of volunteers. This is not the first time we have worked with the Ural Federal University, and this cooperation is always successful,” Larisa Sulima noted.

Previously, the university was the main operator of the volunteer program of the University International Sports Festival, which took place in Ekaterinburg in August. Volunteers also took part in the FIFA World Cup, the Ekaterinburg Grand Slam 2019 international judo tournament, the VII All-Russian Summer Universiade, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and other events.

“The Ural Federal University welcomes the World Youth Festival. Our students, along with thousands of their peers from several dozen countries, will become participants of this one of the largest international events of recent years. The festival will require the efforts of 5 thousand volunteers, and we are especially proud that the UrFU Volunteer Center is the official operator of the volunteer program in the Ural Federal District,” said Victor Koksharov.

The UrFU Center for volunteer recruitment and training of the World Youth Festival was opened on the basis of the university’s “Boiling Point”. In order to become a volunteer, one has to submit an application, pass two tests: personality and logic and thinking, as well as an interview.
