UTMN: UTMN Made It to Forbes Top-100 Russian Universities
Forbes has published an annual ranking of the best Russian universities. The University of Tyumen has entered the top-100, where it ranked 70th. UTMN is the only university in the region to be included in the ranking. In total, the long list included 502 Russian universities (public and private) that offered Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. The ranking did not assess universities that did not offer budget-funded places, university branches, and religious organizations.
The ranking was comprised based on five parameters: Quality of Education, International Activity, Networking Potential, Graduates Demand, and International Recognition.
The Quality of Education metric included two parameters: the quality of teaching and international activities.
The International Activity of the university was assessed by calculating the percentage of international students, foreign teachers, and the availability of international double degree programs.
The Networking Potential assessed the ability to form useful connections in the learning process for students.
The Graduates Demand was assessed based on feedback from employers.
The International Recognition criteria took into account the university’s presence in three leading foreign rankings – QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education, and Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Ivan Romanchuk, Rector of University of Tyumen, comments:
“It’s a big step for the University of Tyumen to be included in the Forbes Universities Ranking. Our Quality of Education was ranked quite high. We were able to reach this milestone due to an effective development strategy that focuses on increasing salaries of the teaching staff, facilitating young specialists’ employment, and evening the ratio between professors and students. However, there is always an area to improve upon. The university will prioritize gaining international recognition among the researchers, employers, and students.”
