UWC Introduces Cutting-Edge Integrated Talent Management Framework for Holistic Development

“If we talk about something that is going to make a difference at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), change the paradigm and make an impact, this is it.” – these words by Meko Magida, the University’s Executive Director of Human Resources expressed his confidence in the launch of a new framework to steward talent.

Magida launched UWC’s Integrated Talent Management Framework (ITMF) on 20 and 21 November at the University’s School of Public Health on the Main Campus.

The launch was attended by UWC staff members with a special video message from Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tyrone Pretorius.

The Integrated Talent Management Framework is built on pillars to:

  • Attract
  • Develop
  • Retain
  • Engage

Mr Magida said UWC was among the first universities in the country to opt for this framework and will soon be meeting with other higher education institutions to guide them through the process, which took UWC more than two years to officially get off the ground.

To provide an engaging platform for UWC staff in attendance, and to provide knowledge on the framework and its pillars and how it impacts on each staff member, the Human Resources Department arranged engaging sessions via service booths.

The booths focused on the ITMF Pillars and the sub-categories related to it. The lively hubs served as interactive spaces where employees could engage with HR professionals, fostering a sense of understanding, ownership, and excitement about the opportunities that the framework unlocks.

The Human Resources Department will be conducting workshops with all departments next year in an effort to provide staff with a comprehensive understanding of the framework.
