Vice Chairperson DDC calls for nurturing Chenani as a vegetable, fruit bowl
UDHAMPUR : Vice Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur Juhi Manhas Pathania has called for nurturing Chenani and Latti areas as a vegetable, fruit bowl by introducing modern, state of art cultivation techniques and inputs.
Addressing a series of Janta Darbars in Chenani and Latti areas of District Udhampur with the line departments/sectoral officers, the Vice Chairperson DDC Udhampur called for immediate crash measures to develop upper reaches of Chenani and Latti areas as centres for propping up modern, state of art bowls for producing vegetables, fruits and flowers.
She said that in entire Jammu region this area has an exquisite topography, terrain, soil quality and favourable weather conditions for developing it as a vegetable bowl which could cater to the vegetable needs of a greater number of people.
“This area is also best suited for fruits such as walnut, almond, apple, plum, pear, etc and in the same way all modern flowers which are of precious value could be developed and nurtured in these areas,” she said and added “Once we embark upon a policy/crash measures in this direction, not only the area will get a projection but this will change the economic profile of the people living over there.”
While addressing Janta Darbars at Dudu-Kirchi, Jakhed, Latti, Bupp, Sarar, Sira, Sudh Mahadev, Pathania vouched for basic living facilities like water supply, electricity, road connectivity issues. She called for expediting work on Har Ghar Bijli and immediately floating of tenders in JJM for actualizing ’Har Ghar ko jal’ resolve of central government ‘. She further called for immediate completion of work on Chenani-Sudhmahadev, Mantalai-Dudu and Udhampur to Ghordi road projects. These multi crore central projects funded by the central government have the potential of changing the political, economic and social profile of the area. However, she assailed contractor agencies for delaying the completion and asked the monitoring departments to act as the projects are in a limbo.
She was accompanied by DDC Latti-Marothi, Pinky Devi; Chairman BDC Basantgarh Kewal Parihar; Beyant Gupta, Makhan Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Kasturi Lal Gupta, Krishan Lal, Sudesh, Dav Raj (All Sarpanches), Hans Raj, Nischal Rajput, Pawan Kumar and prominent people of the area.
